Sancta Maria Nursing Home Founded
Surgeons Mr Tanner and Mr Cellan-Jones join forces with Ursulines of Jesus sisters to takeover the former Brunswick Nursing Home and transform it into a six bed private nursing hospital renaming it Sancta Maria.
New building completed
A larger premises combining Sancta Maria with the neighbouring Mirador is completed, creating a new operating theatre and more patient rooms.
X-Ray unit installed
First X-Ray unit gifted to Sancta Maria marking a major improvement in patient care.
Silver Jubilee and status change
Sancta Maria Nursing Home becomes Sancta Maria Hospital reflecting a diversification from just care for the elderly over the last 25 years.
The Healthcare Management Trust Founded
HMT was registered with The Charity Commission.
HMT purchases Sancta Maria Hospital
HMT invests £500k on improvements and equipment. Ursuline Sisters remain on management committee and staff the Hospital.
Improvements to hospital exterior
Major work undertaken to front steps and entrance to improve access from Ffynone Road.
New systems introduced
Introduction of new patient administration system specifically for private hospitals.
Upgraded diagnostic equipment
Radiology room renovated and systems upgraded to offer digital X-Ray.
Plans approved for a new state of the art hospital
Plans for a purpose-built private hospital in SA1 Swansea Waterfront are approved with construction starting in 2018.
